One year in and still making progress!

It’s been more than a year since I started the Awaken 180 weight loss program.  All things considered, it has been pretty easy.  I find that I can follow a plan really well when it is just that, a plan.  There is never any guess work when trying to plan my meals.  In fact, two meals and two snack per day consist of products I purchase thru Awaken 180.  My third meal, typically dinner, always consists of 6-8 oz of protein and 2 cups of veggies.  The only thing I have to figure out each day is which snacks or meals do I add my healthy fats to.

Over the past year I have lost 120 + pounds but I’m not done yet because I still have more weight to lose.  As I mentioned above, it hasn’t been all that difficult.  Every now and then I will get cravings for some of my favorite foods that I had to give up, at least temporarily.  A few examples of the food I miss would be pizza and Chinese food.  Mostly pizza though.  I have tried making my own version of a pizza like creation but it has never turned out well.  I’m not sure if I should continue to experiment or just give up until I can once again have the real thing.

I guess the purpose of this post is to provide an update of sorts.  One year in and I’m still plugging along.  I still have more to do but I am happy with how far I’ve come.  I believe that making these healthy changes probably saved my life and allowed me to stick around for the duration and watch my kids grow.  I feel better than I’ve ever felt and I’m no longer embarrassed by who I see in the mirror. The biggest challenge I can predict will be maintaining my progress once I’m off the program.
